A Day In The Life Of Lauren

Sunday the 16th of July was National Friendship Day which coincided with a trip to see one of my life long friends! We had arranged to go and see a stage show of one of our favourite childhood books which was taking place at Eden Court Theatre on Saturday the 15th of July. After a little bit of shopping, we headed for dinner and then onto the theatre.  The Railway Children Live is an adapted stage show of E Nesbitt's tale and included an interesting array of theatrical techniques and staging.  The mid cloth was set up to project different still and moving pictures to help set the scene - this included the family at their home in London, the Perks' house and the railway station itself, with moving pictures of steam trains with an added smoke machine offstage to help give some realism to the set. Here is the second installment this week - my beauty faves! Barry M coconut infusion gel nail paint in the shade paradise and oyster - I am actually a big lover of Barry M nail varnish because it is not overly priced, the colours are beautiful and when you get fidgety like me, you need a good strong varnish that has good 'staying power.' These shades are very discreet but perfect for adding a subtle colour to your nails and I just love the consistency. They apply to the nail very well and often one coat is enough to provide a vibrant colour.  Even the name  'coconut infusion' 😍 suggests that it's doing something good. Soap and Glory. To make up for my absence last week, I have decided to write two posts this week. 💖 Last weekend was the long weekend from work. So, I took this opportunity to go on a spontaneous trip to see family and friends in Aberdeen. Whilst catching up with some of my favourite people, it also gave me a small chance to hit the shops. The shops in Aberdeen are unlike the one's we have in the Highlands, and you can pretty much find anything you are looking for, on your doorstep. Living in the far North of Scotland, it is somewhat difficult to visit or explore different coffee shops or restaurants. They are often few and far between, unless you live in the city. However, I recently visited newly opened  'Stacks Coffee House and Bistro' run by mother and daughter duo Theresa and Becky Wymer in John O Groats. Having known the family for many years, I decided to treat my mum to lunch there one Sunday afternoon to support Theresa and Becky in their new venture. I also wanted to see for myself the hard work they had put in to their new place and to taste their hand crafted dishes. What struck me as I first went inside was how rustic the restaurant seemed. It had a real modern vibe to it with brightly coloured surroundings and varnished wooden palettes on the wall with low lighting, which all added to the ambiance of the restaurant.
